Celebrities Using Second-Hand Fashion? Surely not.

Celebrities Using Second-Hand Fashion? Surely not.

Surely YES!

We thought it was just us but turns out, it’s everyone!

Celebrities also wear a dress once and think..what now?

Celebrities also find joy in bargain prices.

Celebrities also see the benefit of slowing down fast fashion.

Granted, they need an outfit for The Golden Globes and not Emma’s 34th Birthday BUT STILL.

American celebs call it "thrifting” and tbh "I got it at a thrift store” sounds

much better than “I got it on marketplace”.

Maybe all we need is a name change?

“Celebrities tap into second-hand clothes trend by selling on pre-loved sites” – The Guardian

Celebrities like Drew Barrymore, Eva Mendes, Julia Roberts, Zooey Deschanel and Anne Hathaway have all opened up about their love for thrifting, vintage, second-hand clothes and re-wearing great looks.

Bella Hadid has been vocal about her love for second-hand pieces and revealed on Instagram that she also buys her clothes digitally, from re-sale sites in the US.

Musicians like Florence Welch, Lorde, Janelle Monae and SZA wear second-hand clothes in their shows and Macklemore made a damn SONG about thrift stores! Don’t pretend you don’t remember 2012 Triple J’s Hottest 100, yes you with the vodka cruisers.

Sarah Jessica Parker only buys second-hand clothes for her son, telling Vanity Fair that The True Cost (a documentary about labour conditions in the fashion industry) changed the way she shopped for her child.

And, Helen Mirren only travels with underwear and buys second-hand clothes when she arrives in each country. She also donates them back to another second-hand store when she leaves! So I’m not saying you could end up wearing Helen Mirrens top, but I’m not-not saying.

And if the above wasn’t enough name dropping for you, we’ve got the biggest celebrity-royalty-name-drop of all time.

Kimmy K herself.

That’s right guys. KIM KARDASHIAN SELLS HER CLOTHES.

The whole damn-gorgeous family does.

Kardashian Kloset is a clothing resale site that stocks second-hand pieces worn by the famous family themselves that have been hand-selected by each family member and are available exclusively to the public for purchase.

"In the United States, resale is the hottest ticket now, it's the thing to do," says Cynthia Bussey, Kris Jenner’s cousin, who closely collaborated with Jenner to launch Kardashian Kloset.

While their price range is still largely out of most of our budgets, it goes without saying that if the Kardashians are doing it – everyone will soon be doing it!

The fashion re-sale industry experienced a surge in mainstream popularity around 2018, and since then, re-sale sites have only thrived. Fashion resale is expected to be bigger than fast fashion within the next 10 years in the US market (whaaat).

Australia has always been close behind the US and Europe with the trends, so there’s no surprise the re-sale market here has hit and is on it’s way to being big-time. Second hand clothes Resitched
